Every Friday in October, we invite you to explore the depths of creative horror, from the existential to the bone chillingly supernatural. We’ll draw from several different texts including Stephen King, Agatha Christie, Octavia Butler, and many more.
We’ll take frighteningly careful looks at short texts, study craft choices, and scare ourselves into deep analysis you can use in your own work.
Every week receive generative writing prompts to conjure new work or cast a new light on your work in progress. We'll include prompts for memoir, fiction, poetry, and hybrid texts.
You'll receive a curated mix of eerie texts, strange poems, unsettling artworks, haunting films, and even the occasional podcast or song. Think of them as talismans: objects that summon atmosphere, cast shadows, and spark your imagination.
On October 18th, we’ll meet on Zoom for a live writing sprint: one hour to dive into your own scary stories. Afterward, stick around for an optional open mic: one hour to share your work and listen to others. Plus, as soon as you sign up, you'll be invited to our Discord community.
